Welcome to Muskegon Catholic Schools! From preschool through eighth grade, MCS is a place where each child is cherished and taught in a caring, faith-filled environment.
We are blessed with the opportunity to teach your children about God’s love for them. We gather every morning to hear Christ’s Word and to offer special prayer requests. Usually these intentions include everything from a child’s new dog to another child’s grandmother who is in a nursing home. Students pray the Living Rosary once a month and attend Mass on a weekly basis. In all things, the Gospel values of love, respect and compassion are shared with our students.
Our small class sizes and dedicated teaching staff allow us to focus attention on each individual child to ensure that he/she masters the academic concepts that are taught each day. We utilize the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing program because it allows us to assess individual comprehension and set growth targets for each child. The students at MCS consistently score above the national average in all subject areas. There is quite a bit of educational and social development that takes place as children begin to mature into young adolescents. As such, we believe that it makes sense to gradually increase the responsibilities and opportunities for our students in sixth through eighth grade. Students in these grades change rooms, enjoy a separate lunch period, and have an opportunity to accelerate their learning by taking different classes. Their service outreach includes monthly visits to a local nursing home and help with the distribution of Gleaners food truck items. Finally, these students are offered a wide variety of athletic and fine arts programs. I invite you to spend some time on our school page, where you can learn about our preschool programs, Small BlessingsChild, curriculum, etc. Most importantly, I encourage you to visit our school, where every student is considered a blessing.
I hope to meet you soon.
In Christ’s peace,
Penny Johnson
